First Year
This
is the
first year for the club to venture into Mini/Junior Rugby and although
we have a
rather steep learning curve to climb the progress has been very
pleasing. The teams have
played against a good selection of clubs and the players have pleased
the coaches with their skills and
progress. This standard of rugby is aimed at teaching new skills,
developing the individual and team spirit; it is not about winning in
these early years but the child’s development.
We are striving for is fun experience for both children and the
family and we openly encourage the family to come along for matches and
training
to join in with the experience. Team sports will bring out the
individual, improve
self-confidence, awareness and add to general overall fitness. This
process
must be an improvement on the very insular activity of just sitting in
front of
a game consul for hours on end. Let’s get all the family out there, get a
bit
of fresh air in those lungs and have a fun day.
Teams
At the
moment we run Under 7s, Under 8s and Under 11s teams but this is only due the
numbers currently here at the club; we will add more teams as numbers increase.
Our Under 8s and Under 11s teams are desperate for a few more members; so come along
and join us. A year is not that long in sport and soon our Under 7s will be the Under 8s, etc.
so come along join in the fun now; don’t miss out on the opportunity. |

Registration
Forms are available from the Secretary (see below).
Currently there is no charge for any Mini or Junior players to register at Hafodyrynys RFC.
Registrations also includes insurance via the WRU. |

Welcome
We
welcome
all age groups here at Hafodyrynys both boys and girls. However any
child of 5 years of age cannot play until their 6th birthday; but are
welcome come along and train. Teams can be a mix of boys and girls up to
the age of 13
years. We have quite a mix at the moment and will openly welcome anyone
to the
club. Just give the Secretary a call or email him for information.

Training
Every Wednesday 6:00pm till 7:00pm (weather permitting). All coaches are registered coaches for each of the age groups here at the club;
with more coaching staff planned for training in the near future.
All CRB checked.
Matches
Sundays 11:00am Kick Off (normally). Played
within the general Gwent area about 30 mile radius.

Minis
From the age of 6 both boys and girls can play Mini rugby as mixed teams and can continue to do so up to Junior rugby level. These mixed teams play Tag
rugby up to the Under 8 stage. Contact rugby is then played for Under 9
and older age groups
Juniors
Junior
rugby starts at Under 13s and at this stage mixed rugby gets a bit complicated and boys and girls within teams start to separate. "Girls are permitted to play mixed rugby up to
and during the season in which they are Under 12 as of 1st September." Female rugby is quite strong in Wales so there's no reason for the girls to not continue their rugby through the Junior section and on. So far we have not attracted any candidates for our Junior section here
but we are working on this; in reality those that have started in Mini sections usually populate the Junior sections.

Fixtures
Since this
the first year we have run this section of the club there is no formal fixture list. This will be put into place for future years now that we have established ourselves.
Fixtures are for now being
arranged on an ad hoc basis. But so far the club has already played Ynysddu,
Garndiffith, Newbridge, Rhymney and Cefn Coed y Cwmmer, to name but few.
